UNLOCK BETTER SLEEP

Frustrated with the outdated advice of needing "eight hours of sleep"? Move past simply investing in new bedding and embrace the transformative idea of Sleep Debt.

Scientific evidence indicates that maintaining a low Sleep Debt is crucial for enhancing your life quality and longevity, whereas a high Sleep Debt can lead to chronic tiredness and health issues.

RISE calculates your Sleep Debt, clarifies its effects on your energy, and offers guidance on reducing it through improved sleep practices. Discover your melatonin window, learn when to prioritize rest, and grasp the real implications of those late nights—including the advantages of taking naps.

PERSONALIZED SLEEP TRACKER

Do you struggle with racing thoughts at bedtime? Can’t resist scrolling endlessly on your phone? Feeling fatigued throughout the day?

Based on your sleep information, circadian rhythm, and current scientific findings, we offer tailored suggestions to promote healthier habits, ensuring you become a better sleeper.

RISE will help you establish a bedtime routine, assist you during sleepless nights, minimize nighttime awakenings, and reduce morning grogginess.

DISCOVER YOUR CIRCADIAN RHYTHM

Every individual has a unique internal clock known as the circadian rhythm, which indicates when to be alert or when to recuperate. We are all different in terms of peak performance times and ideal sleep schedules, so we utilize advanced algorithms to determine your optimal activity and sleep windows.

You will gain understanding of your circadian rhythm and daily energy fluctuations, enabling you to schedule a more productive day.

Adequate sleep restores energy, and 83% of RISE users report increased energy within a week or less.

AUTOMATICALLY TRACK SLEEP

By integrating with platforms like Apple Health, Apple Watch, Fitbit, Oura, and other sleep trackers on your smartphone, such as Sleep Cycle and ShutEye, RISE can accurately monitor your nightly sleep duration, calculate your sleep debt, track daily steps, and gather additional data on activities that impact your sleep patterns.

WHY WE STARTED RISE

Our mission is to address the growing Insufficient Sleep Epidemic (CDC, 2014) that continues to escalate since 1985. This crisis has resulted in higher mortality rates (Cappuccio, 2010) and diminished performance across various facets of life (RAND, 2016).

In today’s society, sleep is often viewed as a luxury. RISE aims to foster a world where healthy sleep is regarded as essential.

Subscription pricing & terms

RISE offers automatic-renewal subscriptions for unrestricted access to all premium capabilities. There is also a limited-time 7-day trial available to explore the premium features.

The payment will be charged to your connected credit card upon confirming the initial subscription purchase. Unless deactivated at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, subscriptions automatically renew. You can manage your subscription settings in your Profile.

Is the RISE Sleep App Worth It?

Yes, If You Want More Energy

Key Takeaways

Yes, the RISE sleep app is worth it. RISE focuses on the two key metrics—sleep debt and circadian alignment—that, when improved, make the biggest different in how you feel. It then helps you improve these metrics with personalized guidance and tools like a smart alarm, sleep sounds, and timed sleep hygiene reminders.

RISE tracks sleep debt by working out how much sleep you personally need. This makes it much more accurate and useful than other trackers, which use self-set sleep goals or generic sleep guidelines.

RISE doesn’t track time spent in different sleep stages or sleep quality because these metrics don’t make a difference to how you feel and function each day, and  they can’t actually be tracked accurately by apps or wearables anyway.

RISE costs $69.99 a year, which works out at $5.83 a month. For the cost of a cup of coffee, you’ll get more sleep, more energy, and more productivity day after day. Plus, you can learn a lot about (and improve) your sleep and energy during the seven-day free trial.

Evaluating sleep apps and trackers is no easy feat. For one to be worth investing in, you want to make sure it works, that it provides enough useful features, and that it’ll make a real difference in how you feel.

RISE ticks all of those boxes. The app focuses on the sleep and energy metrics that sleep research shows matters when it comes to your health and productivity: sleep debt (the amount of sleep you owe your body) and circadian alignment (how in sync you are with your circadian rhythm, or body clock). And it gives you plenty of tools and personalized guidance to improve them to feel and perform better each day.

Below, we’ll dive into what makes a sleep app or tracker worth it and why RISE fits the bill.

Buyer’s Guide: What Makes a Sleep App or Tracker Worth It?

Here’s what to consider when weighing up if a sleep app or tracker is worth it:

Does the app or device track the right metrics? Many sleep trackers don’t track the right metrics or they don’t track them accurately. Their sleep data might be interesting, but it’s insufficient.

The RISE app focuses on what research shows are the two biggest factors affecting your productivity and wellbeing: sleep debt and circadian alignment.

Does the app or device help you improve those metrics? Just tracking metrics or improving the wrong metrics won’t make a difference.

The RISE app gives you tools and personalized guidance on how to lower sleep debt and get in sync with your circadian rhythm. This is what will help you feel and function better— probably why you want to track sleep to begin with.

Does the app or device come with any other useful features? To get value for your money, look for features that help you improve your sleep debt and circadian alignment.

With the RISE app, you get sleep sounds, a smart alarm clock, recommended sleep and wake times, the ability to sync with other wearable devices and apps, and more.

How much does the device or app cost? When considering if the price is worth it, think about how much you’d pay for more energy and productivity each day. Look for hidden costs and whether you need to buy a wearable device to make a tracker work.

For the cost of a cup of coffee a month, the RISE app helps you unlock the energy, health, and productivity that comes with lowering your sleep debt and syncing up with your circadian rhythm. You can also try RISE free for seven days to see if the tracker is right for you.

Does the app or device have good reviews? Find out if others think the sleep app or tracker is worth it.

The RISE app has thousands of five-star reviews, and industry awards and recognitions.

Does the app or device or app come with a wearable or sleep-tracking device? To make some sleep apps work, you’ll need to sleep with a wearable or a device, like a special mattress or sleep pad. Consider if this is worth the extra money as well as if it’s worth the effort setting it up, charging it, and remembering to sleep with it.

The RISE app syncs with other wearables and sleep apps if you have them, but you get all of the benefits of RISE as a standalone app.

I wanted to explore this for better sleep. I plan to cancel before the trial ends. It feels pointless for Fitbit users on Android. Such a letdown that many companies focus only on iPhone users. When I tried to set my sleep range for weekdays, it wouldn’t go beyond 10:10 AM. It doesn’t cater well to night owls. I usually sleep around 1 AM and wake up after 10:30 AM.

They charged me a whole 12 hours before my trial ended, right as my alarm rang! Then they asked for documents I never received to process a refund. No surprise, I didn’t get the refund. Now I’m 60 dollars down for an app that just doesn’t work for me. The notifications are a mess; I only get the morning ones. The features I hoped for aren’t available. I do like the idea of doing a brain dump at the end of the day, but I never get the notification for it.

This app opened my eyes to how much I’ve neglected sleep. I realized just how little I was actually getting. Before, I went about my day, aware that my sleep wasn’t great, but I never understood the true impact of my lack of rest. Now, it feels like a turning point for me. Paying attention to my sleep has made a huge difference. When my sleep debt is under five hours, my energy levels soar throughout the day. It’s been a total game changer!

Many users are experiencing the same issue with the app not tracking sleep automatically. People have to enter their sleep data by hand. When waking up and checking the app, it often shows the previous day’s data. It can be confusing, especially when it's Tuesday morning but the app displays Monday's information. Sometimes it takes a while for the app to update to the current day. Initially, after installation last week, the app tracked sleep correctly, but that function seems to have stopped working.

It's great that some people find it useful. The formatting and editing options just don't work for me. I think I messed up and added sleep time on the wrong day. No way to check since only days of the week show up, not specific dates. I noticed the trash can icon, but it didn't do anything. When I tried to submit a ticket, my keyboard blocked the text box. I kept having to lower my keyboard to avoid autocorrect messing things up. It's been a frustrating experience.

This app is fantastic. It helps manage my chronic health conditions without any hassle. The interface is simple and user-friendly. Plus, it doesn’t break the bank. Nowadays, I sleep better than ever. Working from home allows me to start my day earlier, giving me my evenings free. I’ve even begun enjoying those early nights I desperately needed.

This app feels complex and easy at the same time. It's perfect for everyone willing to explore the prompts. It focuses on sleep hygiene, making it a real game changer. I discovered it through ads on Instagram, and now I feel relaxed about updating my therapist. I absolutely love this tool! Huge thanks to the IT experts and scientists who created this amazing app. I believe many others will join in soon! I fully recommend it. It's affordable and so worth it! No more bullet journaling for my sleep tracker since this app does it all.

You gave Rise a shot before with a free trial. It worked for you and you had to pause using it. Now you're thinking about giving it another go, but the $52 fee is a bit much. You just wish there was a way to access it without the cost.

I would give zero stars if it were possible. The description mentions a subscription for premium, but it fails to explain that you can't complete the setup without paying for the subscription. This makes it seem like the app requires a subscription only, not just for premium features. The description needs fixing. I uninstalled it immediately.
