Can the Nikkei Online Edition be used on multiple devices? 

Yes, you can use the Nikkei Online Edition with multiple devices using a single Nikkei ID. However, you cannot use the same service or app simultaneously on multiple devices. If you want to switch devices, log out on the first device before logging in on the second. That said, if you are using different services, such as:

 •  PC browser (Nikkei Online)

•  Newspaper Viewer App

 •  Nikkei Electronic App

 •  Nikkei Online Mobile, etc.,

you can use them simultaneously on different devices.     

Can I read the newspaper as it appears in print using the digital edition?

Yes. You can use the Newspaper Viewer on a computer or smartphone app to view the paper in its original layout (as printed). If you subscribe to the printed version of The Nikkei via Nikkei ID payment, you can use the Nikkei Newspaper Viewer Service (simplified viewer) for free.

What’s the difference between Paid and Free Memberships?

Already subscribing to the newspaper， how to add the Digital Edition？

Please select "Nikkei Newspaper + Nikkei Digital Edition." You can add the digital edition for an additional 1,000 yen on top of the newspaper subscription fee. When selecting, click the button that says "I already subscribe to the Nikkei newspaper at home" to proceed.

Can I change or cancel my subscription freely?

Subscriptions to the Nikkei Digital Edition and the Nikkei Newspaper are on a monthly basis. If you do not complete the cancellation process by 11:59 p.m. on the last day of the month, your subscription will automatically renew for the following month. You can make changes or cancel your subscription from the Subscription Support Top Page. If you subscribe to the newspaper via sales agent collection, please check directly with your assigned agent.

Can I subscribe to the Morning Edition only?

The following areas are Morning Edition-only delivery areas:

Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Akita, Yamagata, Fukushima, Tochigi, Gunma, Niigata, Toyama, Ishikawa, Fukui, Yamanashi, Nagano, Shizuoka, Tottori, Shimane, Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Tokushima, Kagawa, Ehime, Kochi, Saga, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Okinawa. In all other prefectures, you can choose either Morning Edition only or Morning + Evening Editions.

Fees and Payment

Details depend on your subscription method. An additional 1,000 yen per month is required to add the Digital Edition to your existing newspaper subscription. Payment methods vary by contract type (e.g., credit card, bank transfer, sales agent collection).

Can I print articles from the Newspaper Viewer App?

Printing is possible from the iOS version and the browser version of the Nikkei Digital Edition. In the iOS Newspaper Viewer App, if connected to Wi-Fi and using an Apple AirPrint-compatible printer on the same network, you can print selected articles in the original newspaper layout (image format). The Android version of the Newspaper Viewer App does not support printing. If you save an article, you can print it later in text and image format (horizontal layout) via the linked “My News” section on the PC version.
