What are the driving license requirements?

You must bring your driving license when picking up your rental car. Most car hire companies require drivers to have held a full license for at least one or two years. Specific requirements can be found on the booking page. Please note that provisional licenses are not accepted. If you're renting a car abroad, some countries require an International Driving Permit in addition to your regular license. To view driving license requirements for popular countries such as Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Canada, Germany, Greece, Thailand, please check the relevant section.

What is an insurance excess？ 

An "excess" (also known as a deductible in some regions) is the amount of money you are required to pay out of pocket toward a claim before your insurance coverage kicks in. For example, if your car hire insurance policy has an excess of $500, and the repair costs $2,000, you would pay the first $500, and the insurance would cover the remaining $1,500. If the repair cost is less than the excess, you would pay the entire amount.  

The purpose of an excess is to share some of the risk between you and the insurance company, and it typically helps lower the cost of your insurance premiums.

What do I need to bring when collecting the car? 

When you pick up your car, you’ll need to have the following:  
 1.Driver's License: Generally, you must have held your license for at least 1 year (sometimes 2 years) with no major endorsements. Any additional drivers must also present their full driver's license. If your license is not in English (e.g., Arabic, Greek, Russian, or Chinese), you’ll need to bring an International Driving Permit along with your original license. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions at the time of booking for more details.  
 2. Credit Card: You must present a valid credit card in the name of the main driver with sufficient funds to pre-authorize or charge the deposit.  
 3. Forms of ID: A valid photo ID (Passport or National ID) is required, along with any other identification requested by the car rental company.  
 4. Printed Voucher: A printed copy of your voucher must be presented when you pick up your car. Failure to do so may result in an additional charge.  

IMPORTANT NOTE: Payment for additional drivers and extra equipment will be made when you pick up the car, so consider these costs when planning for your credit card usage. If you fail to present a valid credit card, if there are insufficient funds on the card, or if the card is not in the main driver’s name, the rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In such cases, any funds paid will not be reimbursed.

What payment methods are accepted by QEEQ?

 You can book your car with us using most credit cards and some debit cards. The accepted payment methods will be detailed during the booking process.  

We strongly recommend using a credit card in the name of the lead driver for payment. If someone other than the lead driver makes the payment, additional documentation may be required during the booking review for security reasons. However, you are not required to use the same card for booking your rental car online and paying the deposit at the rental counter.  

IMPORTANT NOTE: When you pick up your car, you must present a valid credit card in the name of the lead driver at the rental desk to pre-authorize or charge the deposit. The credit card(s) must be embossed, and a PIN may be required. If you fail to present a valid credit card, there are insufficient funds on the card, or the card is not in the lead driver's name, the rental agent may refuse to release the vehicle. In such cases, any funds paid will not be reimbursed.

QEEQ car rental gets investment from Alibaba-owned Fliggy

QEEQ, a Hong Kong-based car rental platform offering bookings in more than 200 countries, has received an investment from Fliggy, the online travel platform of Alibaba Group.

QEEQ describes the investment as “tens of millions of U.S. dollars” but would not specify the amount.

QEEQ says the funding is part of a partnership between the two companies to integrate offerings, “promote the digitalization of international car rental companies and explore the development of a ‘car rental plus’ model."

It says Fliggy, which is a full-service platform offering air tickets, hotels, visa services and in-destination experiences, also made the investment as part of its strategy to help travel industry players improve their digitalization while also providing better experiences for Fliggy’s customers.

“Triumph of this investment shows Fliggy's confidence in our company and the potential of the tourism industry. Through this collaboration, the car rental services of both sides in overseas markets will now complement and safeguard each other,” says Ben Lee, QEEQ's CEO.

In 2021, QEEQ launched a membership program that currently has more than 2.5 million members.
