FAQ
How does Meet5 work?
Meet5 is the app for going out as a group!
Here’s how it works:
1. Register: Sign up for free with your email, Apple, Google, or Facebook. Simply add a clear photo of yourself, select your interests, and you’re in!
2. Sign up for or create an activity: Find an activity that interests you when you are free, and sign up. You can also create your own activity right away.
3. Participate: Get to know other members in person at activities rather than spending too much time in chat. Our focus is on IRL (”in real life”) connections. The group chat for every activity is mainly for logistics.
Is Meet5 a dating app?
No, Meet5 is not a dating app. The primary focus of our community is to find friends and have fun together.
However, sometimes after becoming friends, people might decide to go on a date.
If Meet5 changes the course of your life, whether you find a new lifelong best friend or the love of your life, we’d love to hear your story! Share your story.
What types of activities are not allowed on Meet5?
Meet5 is a leisure app. To allow everybody to have a good time, we do not allow the platform to be used for any other purpose.
We reserve the right to delete activities which go against these guidelines, even if costs have already been incurred. Only individual people are allowed to create activities, with the exception of official, vetted Meet5 partners.
The following types of activities are not allowed:
Sexual or pornographic activities
Example: A meetup at a private residence with a suggestive title. A co-ed hot tub or sauna activity.
Political activities
Example: A sign making event to prepare for a protest. A drag show hosted as a political fundraiser. (Note: A drag brunch for entertainment is absolutely allowed.)
Any commercial activity, such as advertising or sales-focused activities, product presentations or sales pitches, multi-level marketing (MLM) or recruitment events, or any events focused on acquiring customers
Example: A make up party where participants can purchase the products at the end. A bakery owner creating an event for the soft launch of their new bakery. A gallery meetup which ends with the opportunity to buy paintings. A yoga class where the first one is free but meant to attract clients.
Counseling or coaching sessions (medical, psychological, life coaching)
Example: A business networking event run by a career coach to promote their services.
Spiritual or religious gatherings
Example: A bible study activity. Gatherings that involve active religious instruction, preaching, or group worship are not permitted. (Note: cultural events with religious roots are welcome if they’re non-proselytizing and open to all, such as Lenten fish fries at a fire station, Hanukkah markets, Diwali festivals, or Mardi Gras parades, but are now widely celebrated as part of local culture.)
Anything against federal or state law, from counterfeit goods to prostitution to drug or psychedelic events, even if locally legalized
Example: A 4/20 “High in the Mountains” hike.
Donation-based or pay-what-you-want events (materials cost reimbursement is allowed, such as for a craft event, so long as costs are transparent and do not include any labor costs or donations for the organizer)
Example: A boat trip where tickets cost $40 and the organizer fee is $10. A pottery session that costs $50 without transparent materials fees. A shopping trip where proceeds go to a donation-based project.
Fake activities (an activity organized with no intention to actually meet)
Example: A personal trainer who plans fitness events and then cancels them, meant to gather new client leads.
Activities centered around weapons, their promotion, or use of weapons
Example: An activity at a shooting range or an “open carry social walk.”
We monitor activities closely and actively encourage members to report any suspicious events or people. Together, we can help keep Meet5 a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable space for every one.
