Intel Unison is set to be phased out soon, with the initial phase involving the termination of services for most platforms by the end of June 2025. However, Lenovo Aura platforms will still receive support.

Expand your connected ecosystem and enjoy a multi-device experience that allows you to work seamlessly across different operating systems. Intel® Unison™ effectively links your mobile device with your PC, providing a straightforward and unified user experience.

The Intel® Unison™ solution is currently accessible for designated Windows-based PC configurations and is compatible with smartphones or tablets. The service necessitates a companion application for Windows PCs, which might already come preinstalled on new devices or can be obtained from the Microsoft app store. It is essential that all devices operate on a supported version of the operating system.

Instructions:

1.Install the Unison application on your smartphone or tablet.

2.Locate the Intel Unison PC application on your new computer or download it from the Microsoft app store.

3.Open the Intel Unison applications on both your PC and mobile device, then follow the provided instructions.

The Seamless Bridge That's Sadly Disappearing: Why Intel Unison Became My Cross-OS Lifeline

Watching Intel Unison vanish feels like losing a trusted translator between my tech ecosystems.

As someone juggling an Android work phone, personal iPhone, and Windows/Linux laptops, Unison was the only solution that erased OS barriers without friction.

Setting up was astonishingly simple—scanning a QR code instantly married my devices, and suddenly, replying to Android texts directly from my Windows taskbar or dragging iPhone photos into a PowerPoint felt as natural as breathing.

Unlike clunky alternatives, its elegance lay in doing less but perfectly: receiving only priority notifications instead of noise floods, swiftly transferring RAW camera files offline without cloud delays, and handling calls with zero audio lag.

The true magic? Absolute invisibility. It never demanded attention until needed, becoming the silent backbone of my hybrid workflow.

Now, facing its June 2025 sunset (except on Lenovo), I’m scrambling to recreate what took years to refine—a testament to how brilliantly it solved the chaos of fragmented devices.

Urgent FAQ Spotlight (Due to Discontinuation):

Q: Will existing Unison setups break immediately after June 2025?

A: Non-Lenovo devices lose server support—core features (notifications/file transfer) will likely stop working. Backup data now!

Q: Which Lenovo devices qualify for extended support?

A: Only "Lenovo Aura" branded PCs/laptops. Check device compatibility before June 2025.

Q: Is there a direct replacement with similar simplicity?

A: Microsoft’s Phone Link offers Android-Windows sync but lacks iOS parity or Unison’s streamlined drag-and-drop. Ecosystem alternatives (Apple Continuity, Samsung Flow) are platform-locked.

Q: Can I still download Unison now?

A: Yes! Grab the PC app from Microsoft Store + mobile versions immediately. Functionality remains until termination dates.

Q: Does Unison require constant internet?

A: File transfers work offline via local Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Direct! Cloud reliance is minimal.

What a fantastic concept! The connection method works seamlessly without an account and uses Bluetooth. I can get notifications, read messages, and even reply. Checking recent photos is easy too. Yet, there's an issue with phone calls. My Surface Pro 7+ and Galaxy Note 9 connect fine. When I get a call on my Note 9, I answer it on my Surface Pro 7+. The pop-up appears, but the audio always comes through my phone instead of my PC headphones. This needs fixing, Intel.
