Certain Internet service providers, particularly some cable companies, may offer connections that restrict or completely prevent remote access to your home connection due to a lack of a public IPv4 address. The FRITZ!App Smart Home usually identifies these types of connections automatically and provides an appropriate notification. These connection types may be referred to as "DS-Lite," "Dual-Stack-Lite," or "Carrier Grade NAT" (CGN). If necessary, consult your provider for options regarding obtaining a public IPv4 address.

Requirements:A FRITZ!Box operating with FRITZ!OS version 7.10 or newer is required. If your FRITZ!Box’s internet connection lacks a public IPv4 address, there may be limitations when using mobile or Wi-Fi networks remotely.

Common inquiries:

Inquiry: How do I connect to another FRITZ!Box?

The FRITZ!App Smart Home is designed to operate with just one FRITZ!Box. To switch to a different FRITZ!Box, select “New Login” in the settings menu. You will need to be connected to the Wi-Fi network of your current FRITZ!Box to log in.

Inquiry: Why can I not access my FRITZ!Box while away from home?

Ensure that the “Use on the move” option is activated in the settings menu, which requires connectivity to your FRITZ!Box’s Wi-Fi to modify.

NEWS--FRITZ!Mesh Set 4200: A brief introduction to the new Mesh Sets

24 April 2025

The new FRITZ!Mesh Set 4200 includes the tried-and-true FRITZ!Repeater 3000 AX. It offers a flexible, scalable Mesh system for strong Wi-Fi along with typical FRITZ! functions like guest access, switching schedules, and parental controls.

Mesh Wi-Fi for every connection

The new FRITZ!Mesh Set 4200 provides powerful Wi-Fi with tri-band Wi-Fi 6 and is available as a set of two or three.

The major innovation of the FRITZ!Mesh Set is that it can also be connected directly via LAN to any router or a fibre optic modem (ONT), where it makes all of the FRITZ!Mesh Wi-Fi functions available to the network. The FRITZ!Repeaters in the set can, of course, also be used with a FRITZ!Box as before. The FRITZ!Repeater connected via LAN takes on the role of Mesh Master. Here you can configure all settings like Wi-Fi, scheduled switching, and guest network.

FRITZ!App Smart Home

Convenient Configuration via App

The FRITZ!Mesh Set is conveniently configured using the MyFRITZ! App. The app connects the smartphone to the FRITZ!Repeater via Wi-Fi with a QR code, carries out registration automatically, and guides users step by step through the simple configuration of the FRITZ!Mesh Set, including connecting the other FRITZ!Repeaters.

After configuration, the app offers a convenient overview of the home network and the FRITZ! devices with Mesh. Thanks to the two LAN ports on each FRITZ!Repeater, network devices can be connected directly; if desired, individual repeaters can also be connected with each other via LAN.

ARTICAL--Three reasons for a fibre optic internet connection

27 February 2025

The future belongs to fibre optics. The data are transmitted by sending pulses of light through an optical fibre, making transmission extremely fast and efficient. In many countries the fibre optic roll-out is in full swing. What are the advantages of fibre and why should I go for a fibre optic connection? Here are three important reasons.

1) Fibre optics for maximum speed

From fast to super-fast: A fibre optic connection is available at many speed levels, from 100 Mbit/s for infrequent users, to a flat gigabit per second for families, all the way to an extremely fast 10 gigabits/s for that extra dose of high speed. But do I need it?

From streaming and the cloud to gaming: the need for bandwidth is increasing and increasing and increasing. Today's game downloads can be over 100 gigabytes, so you either need patience or a fast fibre optic connection.

Uploads with fibre optic are unrivaled when it comes to speed: Upload a video from your vacation or a photo album and share it with friends? Record and stream your gameplay? Or you just have a full day of video calls when you're working from home? With fibre, slow uploads and stuttering streams are a thing of the past. Benefit from the once inconceivable speed potential of a fibre optic connection.

2) Interference-free data transmission

Fast is good, no interference is better. Fibre optics is both good and better. Data are transmitted from one place to another by sending pulses of light through an optical fibre, making transmission particularly robust against external influences such as electromagnetic interference. Even long-distance lines make little difference with fibre optics; it's always lightning fast and robust for an excellent internet connection.

3) Fibre, an investment with a future

Other technologies can also achieve one gigabit per second, but the technical limits are sometimes in sight.

Fibre, on the other hand, is only at the beginning: A fibre optic connection is future-proof and built to last, because once the fibre optic cable has been laid, connections of up to 10 Gbit/s can be realized with AON, GPON or XGS-PON, and even faster standards can be retrofitted at a later date on the same fibre optic cable. This makes laying fibre optic cable a long-term investment.

The app lacks control over many features. Sensor mapping and scheduling need to be included. Making schedules work like alarms would simplify things greatly. Biometric authentication should be supported in the browser app. Entering passwords becomes a hassle and encourages weak choices for ease of use. The overview tiles also suffer from tiny fonts, making them hard to read.

Controlling everything feels great. The ability to add or edit a schedule should be right in the app. It makes sense to manage it all from one place instead of hopping into the Fritz box interface.

The MyFritz App insists on switching to the new app. It claims that soon, certain features will vanish from MyFritz. The reason remains a mystery. However, I only get the message "Fritz App Smart Home has stopped." Nothing else works in the new app. It feels so different compared to MyFritz.

You’re having trouble with the Fritz Box. The app shows a connection to the guest WiFi network. That’s not right though. You know you’re not on it. Frustrating situation. Time to troubleshoot and see what’s going wrong.
