Storia

The project was conceived in 2002 on the initiative of Amnesiac, an Italian programmer passionate about the Web and the entire computing world, with extensive professional experience in Web application development. The driving force behind the project was the desire to enable even less tech-savvy users to create personal forums in just a few clicks. During that period, other programmers developed an innovative open-source software based on PHP and MySQL called "Invision Power Board," which proved ideal as a starting point for this ambitious project. It was decided to create a public and free service reflecting the project's vision, which required substantial modifications to the original Invision Power Board codebase.

ForumFree officially launched on June 26, 2002, immediately gaining market traction—evidenced by rapid growth in usage statistics, necessitating continuous server upgrades and innovative solutions to optimize resources at all levels (PHP code, MySQL databases, Apache/Linux servers). Since 2003, after the startup phase, the company expanded with additional technical and managerial staff. From the outset, the project has been funded by small advertising spaces in user boards, enabling the service to remain completely free to date.
