Renting Cars with Cash

What is Alamo Rent-A-Car’s cash policy?

Cash is not accepted as a deposit at the beginning of a rental at any location. For security reasons, many locations do not accept cash at any time.

Note: Some tour customers are exempt from certain cash rental restrictions due to the pre-paid nature of their travel packages.

Note: For rentals in Canada, only customers on a pre-paid tour or renting on corporate accounts that have negotiated the option to use cash are allowed to use cash to qualify for a rental.

Car Rental Fuel Service Options

What are my options for paying for the fuel? Will the rental come with a full tank of gas?

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel. You will be provided with two options, both starting with a full tank of fuel in your vehicle at the time of rental.

Pay at the time of rental:

This option allows a renter to pay for the full tank of gas at the time of rental and return the tank empty.

The total up front fuel charge reflected is an estimate based on current prices and the average tank size for the car class. This charge may change upon time of rental.

Pay upon return:

This option allows a renter to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas or pay Alamo at the end of the rental for gas used but not replaced.

Price per gallon / liter will be higher than local fuel prices.

Modifying Car Rental Reservation Due to Flight Delay

What do I do if my flight has been delayed?

Airport Rental Locations in the US, Canada, UK, France, Spain, Germany and Ireland:

Reservations are valid for 24 hours from the scheduled time of pick-up for delayed flights and charges will not begin until the time of pick-up.

Location will remain open for up to 2 hours after their posted closing time to accommodate delayed customers when valid flight information has been provided.

When booking your reservation on-line or with an agent include your airline and flight information. Providing us with your flight information allows us to serve you better.

Please Note: Frequent flyer points are not automatically paid if you provide your flight information. To receive credit for your miles you must add your Frequent Flyer number to your profile and include the information with your reservation.

Renting a Car Under 25

The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age. There is no maximum restriction in the United States or Canada. See Exceptions below.

A 'Youthful Surcharge' may be applied to your rental, if you are between the ages of 21 and 24.

The average cost is approximately $25.00 per day but can be higher or lower based on the rental location.

If you wish to know the cost of the 'Youthful Surcharge' you may begin the reservation process to determine the exact amount of the fee for the rental location (please remember you will have the option to confirm or cancel the reservation).

Renters 21 through 24 years of age may be restricted to specific car classes. In Michigan and New York, the minimum age to rent is 18 as mandated by these states.

U.S. military personnel and government employees ages 18 or older will not incur a Youthful Surcharge when renting for authorized government travel, but must show the rental location his or her official orders.
