About YOU
The company was established in November 2000 as a joint local and international stock company, aiming to provide Yemeni users with GSM mobile phone services across all regions of the Republic of Yemen. It introduced the latest mobile communication products and services at the time, becoming the first choice for the community under the trade name Spacetel Yemen after officially launching its services in February 2001. The company became part of the Investcom Group.
In July 2006, Investcom Group merged with the global MTN Group, rebranding the company as MTN Yemen. From 2006 until 2021, the company continued offering mobile services, launching numerous offers and services, and introducing cutting-edge technologies to meet the aspirations of Yemeni subscribers. It expanded its coverage in both urban and rural areas, solidifying its position as a leading mobile telecommunications provider in Yemen.
On November 17, 2021, the MTN Group transferred its entire stake in MTN Yemen to the Omani company Zomorrod International Investment. On March 7, 2022, the new trade name and brand—Yemen Omani United Telecommunications Company (YOU)—were officially announced.
Currently, the company provides internet services powered by 4G technology, along with a range of mobile telecommunications services. It continues its mission of enabling effective communication among Yemenis, expanding its coverage to new areas in rural and urban regions across various governorates. The company is committed to offering high-quality, innovative services to its audience while keeping pace with the transformative advancements in the global telecommunications industry.
