Guardian angels represent our known ancestors. Thus, the more familiar we are with our ancestry, the greater number of guardian angels we have.
This application is tailored for preserving a family's historical legacy; it serves as a practical and versatile platform for safeguarding cherished memories and information about ancestors. Users can compile an extensive list of individuals linked by family ties, and incorporate photos, document copies, and videos related to each relative.
Genealogical data is showcased through tree structures, branches, and pie charts. A notable aspect of the application is its ability to generate tree diagrams on both graphical and hypertext canvases. This feature enables users to visually explore their family lineage and comprehend relationships and family dynamics more clearly.
Moreover, the app allows you to store photographs and videos pertaining to your family heritage, ensuring they are readily accessible whenever needed. This proves particularly valuable for preserving essential visual records that could otherwise be lost or damaged.
An additional feature of the application is the calendar for family events. This allows users to visually monitor and organize significant dates and occasions related to their family. As such, individuals can easily view birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries of key milestones in a specific section of the application, facilitating planning and illustrating historical events clearly.
The application was developed to assist families in safeguarding their historical legacy and structuring information regarding their ancestors. With functionalities for storage, visualization, and organization, it provides an efficient method for commemorating and sharing important historical details and memories with future generations.
The application operates on Android versions.
For Android 10 and earlier
User-entered data is stored in the FamilyTree folder within the device's internal memory (you can specify an alternate location, such as an SD card, in the settings).
To back up or transfer data to another device, simply copy the FamilyTree folder and set the path to it on the new device in the settings.
For Android 11 and later
User data is kept in the application's dedicated internal directory, following the new requirements and security policies outlined by Google.
It is crucial to regularly back up your information.
The application utilizes GEDCOM files for information exchange, allowing the transmission of textual details about individuals and their identifiers.
For comprehensive data copying, using ZIP archiving is recommended. The FamilyTree folder, including images, document copies, and video files, will be archived.
The designated folder for public file sharing is the Downloads folder.
Regarding data export
You must select either GEDCOM or ZIP as the data type in the settings. The application will then create an archive file named familytree.ged or familytree.zip in the downloads folder.
To retrieve information from the Downloads directory, you can connect via USB to a PC or utilize the application’s cloud services.
As for data import
You should upload GEDCOM or ZIP files to the Downloads folder through Google Drive and Dropbox services via the application or via USB from a PC. Alternatively, you can send yourself an email with attached files and save them in the Downloads folder.
In the settings, you need to choose the data type “Export GEDCOM” or “Extract ZIP.” The application will then import the data accordingly.
Title: A Deeply Personal and Intuitive Gateway to Connecting with Your Ancestral Legacy
As someone passionate about genealogy, this application has profoundly transformed how I engage with my family's history, turning what is often a dry academic exercise into a living, breathing narrative. The concept of ancestors as guardian angels is beautifully woven into the experience, making each entry feel like an act of honoring a protective presence rather than just inputting data. I was particularly impressed by the fluidity of building my family tree; the graphical and hypertext canvases allowed me to visualize complex familial relationships with an ease I haven't found in other apps, making it simple to spot connections and patterns across generations.
The integrated calendar for family events has become an invaluable tool, not just for reminders but for actively celebrating my heritage throughout the year. While the data management for Android 11+ requires careful attention to backup protocols, the clear instructions for using GEDCOM and ZIP files make data portability a reliable, albeit technical, process. This is more than a digital archive—it's a thoughtfully designed platform that respectfully bridges the gap between technology and tradition, enabling me to securely preserve photographs, documents, and stories, and ensuring that the legacy of my guardian angels is safeguarded for the future.
FAQ:
• How secure is my family's sensitive data and media within the app?
Your data's security is a priority. For Android 10 and earlier, you have direct control over the storage location (e.g., SD card). For Android 11 and later, data is stored in the app's protected internal directory as per Google's strict security policies. Regular backups are strongly recommended to prevent any data loss.
• What is the most effective way to transfer my entire family tree to a new device or share it with a relative?
The most comprehensive method is to use the app's built-in feature to create a ZIP archive. This will bundle all your tree data, photos, and documents into a single file that can be easily transferred and restored on another device, ensuring no media is lost in the process.
• Can I collaborate with family members on building the same tree?
The app itself focuses on a local database. Effective collaboration involves each person maintaining their own data and using the export/import functionality (via GEDCOM or ZIP files) to merge information. This method allows families to combine research while keeping a master copy.
