Note 1: To disable persistent notifications, follow one of these steps:

(A) Long-press the notification icon, select "All Categories" to access the settings screen, and disable "Background Services".

(B) Navigate to "Settings -> Apps -> Taiwan Weather", choose "All Notifications", and turn off "Background Service".

Note 2: If your app version is below 5.2.0 by April 11, 2019, the old GCM notification service will cease, causing a loss of push notification capability. Update to the latest version promptly to ensure uninterrupted service.

Tips

The competent authority to decide on work or school suspension during a typhoon is the respective county/city government. You can call 020300166 to find out about work/school suspension in a given county/city. According to the Executive Yuan's "Regulations for Work and School Suspension due to Natural Disasters," conditions for work/school suspension are met when the predicted typhoon's storm radius is likely to pass through the area within 4 hours, and the average wind speed may reach Beaufort scale 7 or above or gusts may reach Beaufort scale 10 or above. However, the actual decision to suspend work and school is still made at each county/city government's discretion.

Typhoon Sea Warning

A typhoon sea warning is issued when it is predicted that a typhoon with a wind speed of Beaufort scale 7 or above may affect the waters within 100 kilometers of Taiwan, Kinmen, or Matsu (as indicated by the orange dotted line in Figure below) within the next 24 hours. Subsequently, warnings are issued every 3 hours. The reason for issuing the warning 24 hours before the potential impact is primarily to provide sufficient time for fishing boats or recreational vessels operating within 100 kilometers of the coastline to take necessary precautions, such as seeking shelter in ports. During the sea warning period, the public should stay away from the coast to prevent accidents caused by swells. The timing for the issuance of typhoon sea warning is illustrated below.
