Using Guide

QualityTime - My Digital Diet is a tool that lets you discover your Android smartphone habits, and even gives you the option to shake them up if you're not pleased with them.

Once you run QualityTime - My Digital Diet for the first time, the app will start registering everything you do with your Android device: how many times you unlock the screen, how often you use each app and for how long, and basically how much time you spend looking at your Android's screen.

Knowing all this is useful in and of itself, but QualityTime - My Digital Diet also gives you a set of tools so you can correct some of the habits you don’t like. For example, you can activate usage alarms for different apps, so if you go over X amount of time in an app, an alarm will alert you to this fact.

Another interesting feature is the 'take a break' option. When you activate it, your device stops displaying notifications, so you can take a proper break from it.

QualityTime - My Digital Diet is a very interesting app due to all the information it can give you. Think you spend too much time glued to Whatsapp? Well now you can be sure of it.

Using Experience

Put your phone down!

Have you got a smartphone addiction? Even if you think the answer is no, you might still be shocked by the results from QualityTime - My Digital Diet.

The app records how long you use your phone for each day, as well as tracking the use of each individual app. You can then check out well presented summary charts for each day and week.

If you're got an addiction you can set the 'take a break' option, which stops you using your apps. It was so effective I had to uninstall it to use my phone again!

I had this phone usage tracker, and it would sometimes skip large chunks of time when I was using my phone. Even when it did track, it would only show 5 minutes when I was actually on my phone for much longer. It's not really useful if it can't track correctly.

The tracking function works well, but one thing I hope to see in a future update is the ability to customize when the next day starts. For some people who stay up past midnight, their day truly ends later, around 1 am. Also, there are some issues with blocking certain apps - sometimes the feature bugs out and completely locks down the phone.

I got this app to help me limit how much I use my phone. You can choose which apps you want to keep using. But every time I try to use the apps I picked, my phone's screen locks with a message from Qualitytime. This means I have to turn off Qualitytime even just to make a call. It's frustrating and defeats the purpose of the app.

Keeping an eye on how much you use your smartphone is really great for cutting down on your addiction to it.

Oh, I've tried using this app before on Samsung and Motorola phones and it worked well. But now that I have a new Oppo R11, it's not working at all. It keeps showing zero usage, which is quite frustrating. I heard that Oppo phones tend to close apps in the background, even though I disabled that function for this particular app. It's still not working properly. I wonder if you have any solutions for this?
