FAQ

How do I reinitialize the NAS?

Applicable Products:

All NAS series

To initialize the NAS, power on your NAS without any drives installed first (remove any m.2 SSDs as well if there are any installed).

Once powered on, find and connect to the NAS using the QFinder Pro utility, this should take you to the NAS web interface and it will prompt that that are no drives installed in the NAS. Plug in your drives at this point, the system will prompt the option to format and reinitialize the NAS.

Warning: This will format and remove all data on the drives if there are any. Ensure to backup these data first if you wish to keep them.

How can I ensure there's enough space in a shared folder to restore a snapshot file?

Applicable Products

Operating systems: QTS, QuTS hero

Applications: Storage & Snapshots, Storage Manager, Snapshot Manager

Overview

When restoring snapshot files to a local shared folder or a new shared folder, it's important to confirm that the destination folder has sufficient capacity to store the uncompressed files. If the original files are compressed, they occupy less disk space. However, if compression isn't enabled in the destination folder, the files will be restored at their full, uncompressed size. If there's insufficient free space, the restore process may fail.

Recommendation

Select a shared folder with sufficient free space to accommodate the uncompressed files you're restoring.

If necessary, create a new shared folder and manually allocate sufficient capacity for the restore. Avoid simply duplicating the original folder settings.

If you want to conserve storage space, consider enabling compression on the destination folder.

The app doesn't allow for user feedback. The main menu has a spelling error with the word "Frequently."

The app barely works. Browsing through the library feels like a chore, especially outside of folder-based mode. Playing music is frustrating. It skips tracks instead of playing smoothly. The latest update threw everything off. Now, it says my NAS lacks Music Station, even though it does. Without the connection, the app sits there useless. So disappointing.

Frustration levels hit the roof. I updated the firmware and indexed files on my NAS. Read so many complaints about problems. The app detects my folders and albums, yet it keeps saying no music available. All files appear empty. Lost all motivation to figure it out. Just not worth the hassle! Plugging it in should mean it works, but this is a total letdown.

Qnap’s developers have really put in the effort to address the stability issues. This app has transformed into something I can rely on every day. The interface still requires a bit of refinement. It feels clunky, especially when compared to popular streaming apps. Also, the shake-to-skip feature remains problematic. It’s overly sensitive, so even just a brisk walk can accidentally skip a track.

This software is fantastic. If you're not sure how to set it up, give yourself some time to learn instead of down voting! The features are impressive once you get everything running smoothly. It's worth the effort.

This app is great! It’s a really functional music player with awesome features. Qnap keeps improving my NAS without charging anything extra. Great job, Qnap!

The app shines when it runs smoothly. Lately, though, it keeps popping up messages saying it "stopped working." Fixing this would make a huge difference.

Navigating search results feels restricted. You find a list of songs but miss the direct connection to artists or albums. Adding just songs to Now Playing lacks depth. It would be better to have options that lead you straight to an artist's page or an album. This way, exploring music becomes richer and more enjoyable.

This QNAP app doesn't let me log into my NAS like the others do. It's pretty frustrating. Feels a bit useless at this point.
