Additionally, it displays details about the current network configuration and connection of the device, including netstat information. It also supports 'Wake on LAN' functionality for waking up machines, and an optional 'NetSentry' feature that monitors network interfaces and warns users when usage limits are almost exceeded.

WHY THE GPS PERMISSION?

The GPS permission is solely used when the "Show Location" option is enabled in the Ping Options dialog. By default, this option is disabled, meaning location tracking is not active unless deliberately set. Tracking location aids in monitoring ping times over large areas like factories or campuses during extended pings. Upon completion of a long-running ping, a Google Earth file (.dmz) displaying ping times alongside their geo locations is generated. Most users typically won't require this function, so concerns regarding location tracking are unnecessary. Furthermore, location data remains stored locally on the device and is not transmitted or shared unless explicitly done by the user (e.g., attaching the Google Earth file to an email). Therefore, any negative comments about GPS usage in the Play Store are baseless.
