Did Prince Harry really leave Andrew with a bloody nose? His response is swift
Prince Harry and his uncle, Prince Andrew, during their final public appearance, on the day of the coronation of Charles III at Westminster Abbey in London, on May 6, 2023.
A new biography about Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is about to be published in the UK. The book claims that the Duke of York came to blows with his nephew, Prince Harry.
It didn't take long for Prince Harry to react. Excerpts from a new book on "The Rise and Fall of the House of York" (Editor's note: to be published in the UK on August 14) were recently published by the Daily Mail. In this book, author Andrew Lownie claims that in 2013, Prince Harry came to blows with his uncle and godfather, Prince Andrew. The argument allegedly ended in bloodshed, but the Duke of Sussex denies it.
Because Prince Andrew, Duke of York, allegedly made a comment "behind Harry's back," "punches were thrown." Harry ultimately "got the better of" his uncle, leaving him with a "bloody nose." The book also claims that both Harry and his older brother, William, have a "problematic" relationship with Andrew.
Another passage also suggests that the Duke of York warned Prince Harry at the beginning of his relationship with Meghan Markle in 2016, telling him he was "crazy" for not properly investigating his new girlfriend's background. Prince Andrew also reportedly "openly accused Meghan of being an opportunist" and deemed her "too old" for Harry. According to him, their marriage would not last. Harry then allegedly "later told William that he hated Andrew."
The Sussexes' almost immediate response
No sooner had these excerpts been released on Friday than a spokesperson for Prince Harry denied any altercation: "I can confirm that Prince Harry and Prince Andrew never had a physical fight, and that Prince Andrew never made the comments he allegedly made about the Duchess of Sussex to Prince Harry," he said in a statement relayed on August 3 by several media outlets, including "Hello!".
Andrew and Harry last appeared in public in May 2023, when they both attended the coronation of Charles III with the rest of the royal family. Uncle and nephew sat in Westminster Abbey in the same row, separated by Eugenie, Beatrice, and their husbands. Conflict or not, the two dukes have much in common: both grew up as "deputies" to an older brother destined to become king, both are considered rebels, and both have been ostracized by the monarchy...
