About Opto SIC:

Opto SIC is the official streaming app of Sic - Sociedade Independente de Comunicação S.A., built as the mobile home of SIC’s Portuguese entertainment and journalism. The Opto SIC app is not a generic IPTV player — it combines SIC live TV, automatic recordings, on-demand series and films, telenovelas, documentaries, and SIC Notícias coverage in one branded platform.

Opto SIC

With Opto SIC, viewers watch the best of SIC anytime, see selected episodes before linear TV, build a personal list, and read the day’s news in compact 10-, 15-, or 20-minute formats. Premium unlocks live SIC plus 30 days of automatic recordings, ad-free viewing, and exclusive Opto originals.

Store-ready features:

Live SIC broadcast inside the Opto SIC app

30 days of automatic SIC recordings for Premium users

SIC Notícias live + 7 days of recordings when accessed from abroad

Telenovela early access — exclusive preview one day before TV broadcast

Series, films, documentaries, and original Opto content

Daily news in compact formats — OPTO 10, 15, or 20 minutes

“A Minha Lista” watchlist for saved content

Audio-content playback added in the latest iOS update

TV pairing through opto.sic.pt/apptv with account login

Free ad-supported tier plus Premium plan

How to Use the Opto SIC App:

The Opto SIC app runs on a simple viewing loop: log in → pick live or on-demand → watch SIC → save to list → upgrade for recordings → pair with TV.

Quick guide:

Install Opto SIC from the App Store or Google Play.

Open the Opto SIC app and create or log into your Opto account.

Browse Live, Catálogo, or Guia TV from the home screen.

Tap SIC for live broadcast, or open SIC Notícias for news coverage.

Save shows, films, or telenovela episodes to A Minha Lista.

Use the compact news formats when you only have 10–20 minutes.

Upgrade to Premium for live SIC, 30-day recordings, and no ads.

Watch telenovela episodes early through the exclusive Opto preview.

Open opto.sic.pt/apptv, log in, and add a TV code to pair the TV app.

Check audio playback for supported audio content after the latest iOS update.

Tips:

In Portugal: Premium gives 30 days of automatic SIC recordings.

Abroad: SIC Notícias live works with 7 days of recordings, not 30.

If offline download fails, check storage, network, and whether the title is Premium/rights-restricted before contacting support.

Opto SIC FAQ and Status:

Who develops Opto SIC?

Sic - Sociedade Independente de Comunicação S.A. The app is the official Opto streaming client for SIC.

What does Premium unlock?

Live SIC broadcast, 30 days of automatic SIC recordings, ad-free viewing, exclusive Opto originals, and early telenovela episodes.

Can I watch SIC Notícias outside Portugal?

Yes. From abroad, the Opto SIC app provides SIC Notícias live and 7 days of automatic recordings.

What happened to multiple user profiles?

An iOS App Store review confirms multi-user support was removed in a past update. The developer replied that multiple users would return and improve on the previous version, but store copy should not present it as already restored in the current build.

Can I pair Opto SIC with my TV?

Yes. The App TV page lets you log in and enter a TV code to associate your account on the television app.

Why Install Opto SIC:

Opto SIC

Install the Opto SIC app if you follow SIC’s telenovelas, news, and Portuguese originals and want them in one official place instead of hunting across broadcaster sites.

Best-fit users:

Portugal-based SIC viewers wanting live TV + recordings

Telenovela fans who want episodes before linear broadcast

Diaspora users following SIC Notícias from abroad

Commuters using 10/15/20-minute news compacts

Premium viewers who want ad-free SIC streaming

Smart-TV users pairing the Opto SIC app with the TV app

Fans of Opto exclusives, documentaries, and SIC films

I don't understand all the negative reviews and comments. The app works well and feels like watching Portuguese Netflix. The exclusive series show higher quality than usual in Portuguese fiction, which makes it worth the price. The other content is free on public TV due to ads, but here you can watch without interruptions. If I had a suggestion, it would be to add an offline viewing option.

The casting feature is a real letdown. Fast forwarding scenes takes ages. No automatic next episode option makes it frustrating. The price feels way too high for what it offers. Something needs to change.

The app functioned perfectly before the last update. Now, I face a LOAD_ERROR just a couple of minutes into watching anything. It's frustrating to think this issue slipped through testing unnoticed.

Você tentou instalar um aplicativo no seu tablet, mas enfrentou um erro de DRM. A situação é frustrante.

Great idea! Having multiple user profiles would be super handy. Each person could have their own preferences and settings. It brings a personal touch to the experience. Different profiles for different users can keep things organized and tailored. Perfect for families or shared devices!

You start watching the show. Excitement builds as you settle in. The first few minutes pull you in. Then suddenly, it stops. A screen pops up, asking for a subscription. Just like that, the enjoyment halts. You realize you can’t keep watching without paying. Frustration sets in, and the thrill fades away.

The app works well, but I give it two stars. I paid for a one-year subscription. The following month, they charged me for a monthly subscription. Then, the next month, they switched to another subscription costing $39.99. I emailed about this issue but haven't received any response. All I get are attempts to charge me the $39.99.

What a terrible experience! First off, it’s impossible to access supposedly free content like news articles. On top of that, it feels dishonest. There’s no clear mention about in-app purchases or the need for an expensive subscription. It’s embarrassing for the Portuguese audience to have such a low-quality app associated with the well-known SIC brand.

I tried the free version for 10 minutes. Thought I could see if it was worth buying premium. Saw that 30-second ad five times. Every time I selected a video, a message popped up saying it wasn't available with my subscription. Such a frustrating experience. I searched for news articles and got a bunch of thumbnails that didn’t relate to the content at all. They really need to improve user experience.
