Research by 3Vraagt, in collaboration with HUMAN and MIND, shows that 1 in 3 young people feel lonely every week. Many young people do like to go to festivals or concerts alone, but find it difficult to take the first step. That is why 3FM is launching the Green Cup this festival season – a visible signal that breaks the ice, without you having to say anything.

The Green Cup is an initiative of 3FM and is intended for everyone who is open to new encounters at festivals. With the cup you give a subtle, visible signal: I am here alone, but I am open to contact. No obligations, no stress – just the option to enjoy music together, if you feel like it. Do you spot someone else with a green cup? Then you know enough.

Launch at Best Kept Secret

The kick-off of the Groene Cup will take place at Best Kept Secret, a festival known for its accessible atmosphere and young audience, with special youth tickets. After that, 3FM will travel with the Groene Cup throughout the entire festival season. In addition to the physical cup, 3FM is also launching a WhatsApp Community for solo festival-goers. Here, people can easily get in touch with each other, during and after the festival. Whether you are looking for someone to have a beer with or go to a performance together - it is all possible in this digital hang-out.

Research by 3Vraagt among almost 1,500 participants shows that young people are surprisingly often confronted with social loneliness. Almost a third (31 percent) of 18 to 34 year olds feel socially lonely every week because they miss people to do something fun with. In addition, a quarter say that they would actually like to do something alone (more often), but do not dare. 70 percent of young people who sometimes go out alone see it as a good way to meet new people. Alone: taking that first step turns out to be difficult. Especially at busy festivals, where you can feel quite lonely – despite the crowds. The Groene Cup helps to break the ice, without having to say anything.
