myGov is the official app for the Australian government, thanks to which you can carry out tons of administrative procedures in a convenient and simple way from your Android device. It's very important to note that this app is not the same as myGovID, which is the Australian government's digital identity app and operates independently.

Creating a myGov account is easy

In order to use myGov, you'll first need to have an account on this government platform. Fortunately, this process is very quick and easy. You'll have two options at your disposal: you can use myGovID (your digital ID) or, if you prefer, you can use a regular email address. When creating an account, you don't have to enter your phone number, but you'll need to choose three questions and answers for password recovery.

All your administrative tasks on a single app

Thanks to myGov, you'll be able to take a quick look at the inbox for your myGov account. From here, you can quickly check if you have any administrative notifications that require a quick response. You can also store digital cards and documents on the app. This way, you can use the same app to access lots of government services.

The myGov app is the official Australian Government app for myGov.

You need a myGov account to set up the app. If you don’t have a myGov account, you’ll need to create one.

The app makes it simple to sign in to your account, easy to view Inbox messages and quick to access services. There is also a digital wallet where you can store some of your government digital cards and certificates.

The myGov app is not the same as myGovID.

In the MyGov app, users can view answers to frequently asked questions and familiarize themselves with video guides when using specific services. Find detailed information about each service in its passport including video tutorials, service description, pricing, and duration.

Log into your profile, manage applications, and leave feedback for services through the app. Get acquainted with documents related to personal status, real estate, and vehicle information, and monitor utility balances.

For marriage status, credit history, student loans, car ownership certificate, or more than 50 different types of certificates, there is no need to queue. Instead of submitting written requests to organizations providing government services, send an electronic request from your home and receive results within 5 minutes.

Navigate to the Payments section and make payments for essential services in life with almost 1000 fields within daily life. Moreover, you have the option to pay for services without leaving the app.

Set up the app

After you’ve downloaded the app, follow these 4 steps to set it up. You’ll need to set up the app the first time you use it.

Open the app and select Sign in.

Read the privacy notice and Terms of use. If you understand and agree to the Terms of use, select I Accept.

Sign in to your myGov account. You’ll use either:

your myGov sign in details (username, password and a myGov security code or answer a secret question)

your passkey, if connected to your account

your myGovID Digital ID, if you’ve connected it.

Create a 6 digit myGov app PIN and set your sign in settings.

If you have fingerprint or facial recognition set up on your device, you’ll be asked to give permission to use it to sign in.

Automatic sign out

After you sign in and set up the app, you'll stay signed in.

However, if you haven’t used the myGov app in 55 weeks, you’ll be automatically signed out and items in your myGov wallet will be removed.

If you are signed out, you need to:

Sign in again using your myGov sign in details, your myGovID Digital ID or your passkey

set up the myGov app

add items back into your myGov wallet.
