How do I activate my HoT SIM card?

You can easily register your SIM card at any HOFER store using a photo ID. You can also activate it online at www.HoT.at/aktivierung or via the HoT app. There are four different ways to quickly and easily activate your HoT SIM card:

1.If you already have another HoT phone number, you can use the data from that number.

2.With ID Austria or EU Login

3.Using online banking (most Austrian banks support this)

4.With your photo ID and a smartphone or laptop with a camera

Which network does HoT use?

HoT uses the Magenta (T-Mobile) network—confirmed once again in 2024 as the best mobile and 5G network in Austria, according to the Connect network test (01/2024). For the unlimited data plan HoT surf Unlimited, the infrastructure of Drei is used.

Do I have HoT reception at home?

You can check the network coverage at your address by visiting www.HoT.at/netz. Please note that actual reception depends on many factors, such as: the structure of your building；nearby buildings；the number of users on the network；the device you're using, etc.

Does HoT support 5G?

Yes! With the HoT fix 5G plan for €14.90 per 30 days or the HoT fix Mega 5G plan for €17.90 per 30 days, you can enjoy fast browsing on the modern 5G network. For home use, HoT offers HoT Internet Plus for €29.90 per 30 days, which includes unlimited data volume. Please note that 5G coverage is not yet available nationwide in Austria. If 5G is not available in your area, you can still surf easily and conveniently using the LTE/4G network. You can check the network coverage for your location at: hot.at/netz

Can I transfer my phone number to HoT?

Of course, you can transfer your phone number to HoT! All you need is a registered HoT SIM card and either your phone with your current number or the porting form (NÜV information), which you can obtain from your current provider.

How long does number porting take?

At hot.at/mnp, you can complete the number porting process in just a few minutes! The actual transfer of your old number to your HoT SIM card or HoT eSIM is usually completed within 3–4 working days. We recommend submitting the porting request at least 1–2 weeks before your number expires with your previous provider to ensure continuous reachability.

What are the advantages of automatic top-up?

With automatic top-up, your tariff plan is automatically renewed every 30 days by charging your bank account or credit card. Additionally, a €5 top-up (or another chosen amount) will be made if your extra credit drops below €2. This extra credit is necessary for using services not included in your plan (e.g., activating a refill package or making an international call). It’s especially convenient because you never have to worry about topping up your balance in time. If you have a tariff plan, your renewal is charged automatically every 30 days, and you always have enough credit for any usage outside your plan.

I’d rather not switch providers since I’m otherwise happy with your services, but it’s frustrating that there’s been no news or updates—even though something was supposed to happen in 2023. It would be great if we could get an update on this, and eSIM support would be cool too. 🤘🏼

I'm tired of deactivating the automatic credit card recharge. Why is it turned on by default when recharging? Once, when I ran out of megabytes, Flex deducted a lot of money from me. This is annoying.

My family and I have been using HoT for a long time, and it works very well. We also use HoT for Wi-Fi, and it's good—but in the evening, there's almost no internet or sometimes none at all. Other than that, HoT is very good.

I was satisfied for years - both with the service and the app - and would like to stay with HOT. However, I unfortunately had to switch to another provider today with a heavy heart in order to be able to use my Apple Watch with MultiSim. As soon as HOT offers this, I'll switch back.

DO NOT CONNECT YOUR CARD WITH THE APP!! The app topped up extra intenet, without my consent and deducted almost 40eur in 2 weeks time from my bank account, after I ran out of my chosen packages' data. I didn't send them a sms or chose "extra data" on the app.It just topped-up, without my knowledge. I got 4 sms's from the HoT team, that they have topped up my credit, thinking these charges will stay as credit. Little did I know they were charging me for extra data. HoT shouldn't make that choiceForMe!

The app is good, simple and not too much extra stuff. Only complain I have is that roaming never works, if you're lucky it will for 5 minutes per day, just to receive some late messages. DO NOT TRUST HoT when you travel, because you might miss a flight or srh worse if you depend on an uber or need internet, because it just won't work. Using HoT feels like going back 12 years in time...

 Mislead me into paying 20 euro instead of 10, the additional 10 euro credit on the app that I could have otherwise used to activate a package became without reason 9.80euro which meant I could only use it for a smaller dat package. Very disappointed with an app I actually found interesting at first.
