ESV Bible - Read & study Bible

I really like this app, I used it with my old phones. It's special because it has references that other Bible apps don't have. It's easy to use, even when you're not online, which is great for saving data. The recent update made me happy because now it has night mode and the scrolling is smoother. Another cool thing is that when you check a cross reference, it opens in a window without losing your place in the text you were reading. Great job on the update! Can't wait to see what else it offers.

I really like this app. I've enjoyed using it since I began my journey of faith. It's not flawless though, as I noticed a small issue where the highlighted text disappears after I make a note on a specific verse. I have to select and highlight it again, but I'm sure this is a minor bug that can be addressed soon. Despite that, I appreciate the new features and having this Bible app accessible on my phone wherever I go.

I used this app once but didn't find it user-friendly, so I stopped using it. Now I've given it another go and like it a lot. It's easy to get around; there are no annoying ads; the design is nice. What really stands out is the audio feature, which I hadn't checked out before. The narrator is Kristyn Getty, with a lovely voice and clear reading. I've been listening to the Bible as I drift off to sleep at night.

Okay, I get it. You think the updates are too much and make the app harder to use for studying. It's annoying that you can only select one verse at a time and it takes five taps just to highlight a single verse. Imagine having to do that three times – that's fifteen taps! It's also frustrating that it takes two taps to see cross-references and multiple taps for everything else, even to go back. While having lots of options is usually good, in this case, it just makes the app too much work to be useful.

Oh no, the recent update is causing a lot of trouble for me. I am using the "365 day devotional," but it's showing as if I just started the plan, even though it's already March! I have to keep scrolling through the months to reach December. I tried closing and reopening the app multiple times, logging out, and logging back in, but nothing has worked to fix these issues. Also, I can't remove plans that I'm no longer interested in. While I appreciate some of the new features, they don't make up for the loss of the previous ones. If these problems are fixed, the app would be amazing.

I like the ESV translation. It's the same in the app as in print, so all the content is there. The app is really well made and easy to use. Thanks to Crossway for this. I can read God's word whenever and wherever, even when having a 'book' would be hard.

Oh, I really enjoyed using the app. But after the update, everything just stopped working. To hear the text read aloud, I had to turn off Bluetooth. Plus, the sync between the text and voice doesn't work anymore. No matter how many times you try to resume tracking with text, it just won't happen. This Bible app used to be my favorite because of its clean layout without all the distractions on the home page like other popular Bible apps. If they can fix these new glitches, I'd gladly give it 5 stars again!

As of February 24, 2021, my experience with the app has not been good. Every time I try to use it, it crashes after just a few seconds. This happens on all my devices, even after I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the beta and public versions. There are some really cool new features, but one thing that frustrates me is that the app doesn't rotate on my screen. I prefer reading on my tablet in landscape mode, not portrait. Strangely, it works fine in the app settings and on the welcome screen, but not when I'm actually using it.

I think the notes feature in the Bible app could use some improvements. When I want to save a note, I have to press "X," which doesn't seem very intuitive at all. Also, there is no clear sign that my note has been saved afterward. To manage this, I've been highlighting each verse I make a note on, but it feels like I shouldn't have to do that extra step. Despite this issue, I'm overall content with the app and appreciate that it is free of ads. Thank you for providing such a helpful tool!
