The eDO App allows for secure identity verification and electronic signature placement.
It is a free application that enables the use of your e-ID card online.
In the eDO App, you can verify your identity and place your signature.
You can do all of this without leaving your home, using only your personal e-ID card.
Get your ID card
Have the details in your ID card changed? Or maybe your ID card is expiring or your regular ID card is still valid and you want an e-ID card? Your 18th birthday is approaching and you want to get your first ID card? You can do it at any office, regardless of your registered address, or online. Check how to obtain an ID card.
E-ID is an ID card with an electronic layer. All ID cards issued from March 4, 2019 are e-IDs. Information about e-ID can be found at ID card - information .
If you want to apply for an ID card online, you need a profile of a trusted, qualified signature certificate electronic or personal signature certificate (it is in the e-ID card of a person who indicated in the application for an e-ID card that he or she wants to have a personal signature certificate).
If you want to log in with e-ID, you need an ePUAP box. It is used for communication with the office. In your mailbox you will find, for example, your letters sent to the office via the ePUAP platform services.
If you apply online, you must provide your fingerprints and signature. These data will be collected at the office and placed in your ID card.
You have 30 days from submitting your application online to visit the office. After this deadline, your application will not be processed (it will not be considered).
Tips
Who submits the application
An application for an ID must be submitted by anyone who:
- is over 18 years old and does not have an ID card yet,
- replaces the ID card - for example due to a change in personal data.
Anyone who:
- turns 18 in less than 30 days,
- is a Polish citizen who lives abroad.
In what cases do you apply
Apply for an ID card as soon as possible if:
- you are over 18 years old,
- personal data in your current ID has changed, for example your name (an ID with outdated data will be invalidated after 120 days from the date of registration of the change in the data in the PESEL register),
- your appearance has changed, for example after plastic surgery, which makes it difficult or impossible to recognize you,
- your current ID card has been lost, destroyed or stolen (but first report the loss or damage of your ID card ),
- the certificates in your ID have been revoked.
If your current ID card is expiring, apply at least 30 days before the expiration date.
You don't have to replace your ID if it changes:
- your registered address,
- name of the office that issued your ID,
- name of place of birth.
Apply for a new ID card if:
- you suspect that your personal data, including the series and number of your ID card, have been used in an unauthorized manner (identity theft) and you can substantiate it (but first report the unauthorized use of your personal data ),
- your current ID is not an e-ID and you want to have an e-ID,
- your current ID is an e-ID, but it does not contain fingerprints, and you want an e-ID with this biometric feature,
- you have an e-ID without a personal signature certificate or a login certificate (i.e. an identification and authentication certificate),
- you cannot sign in person or log in (authenticate) with it.
If you want to learn more about certificates, read about ID cards .
What you need to prepare
- login with password to a trusted profile and mobile phone or qualified signature or e-ID,
- color photo in electronic form:
- minimum resolution: 492 x 633 pixels,
- size up to 2.5 MB
- dimensions: 35 x 45 mm (width x height).
Check what conditions an ID photo should meet . Please remember that if the photo does not meet the requirements, the officer will ask you to complete the application. If you are wearing dark glasses or a headgear in the photo, attach an appropriate certificate.
Take a valid ID card or valid passport to the office for a visit to take fingerprints and a signature specimen.
If you do not have such a document, take another document with you with a photo (e.g. driving license).
If you are applying for an ID card because someone used your personal data (identity theft) - prove that such an event occurred.
To do this, you could, for example, include:
- a letter or e-mail from the company with which you have signed a contract, about the leakage of personal data or
- a printout of a statement containing information about the data leak and a document confirming that the company collected your personal data.

- for logging in – 4-digit PIN 1,
- for personal signature – 6-digit PIN 2 code (if the appropriate box is marked in the application).
You can also do it later, at any municipal office.
Together with your e-ID, you will receive a PUK code for it. You may not receive the code. The code will be waiting for you at the office that issued your ID.
If you want to find out more about the PUK code or PIN codes, for example how to change them later, read the information on e-ID .
What is a personal signature
Personal signature – advanced electronic signature placed in the e-ID. When contacting an office (public entity), it is as important as a handwritten signature. You can also use it to deal with other matters - with companies or people, if both parties agree: you as one party and another person or company as the other party.
Decide if you want one when you apply for an ID card.
