BVB Women's Team Gets Off to a Perfect Start in the Regionalliga Season
Borussia Dortmund's women's team kicked off their first season in the Regionalliga West with a home victory. The newly promoted team beat Bayer 04 Leverkusen's U23s 6-0 (4-0) in front of their home crowd at the Rote Erde stadium. The goals were scored by Jasmin Jabbes (3), Dana Marquardt (2), and Ronja Leubner.
The BVB women's team got off to a furious start, taking the lead in the second minute. Ann-Sophie Vogel used her pace to break through on the left and laid the ball low and precisely into the center of the penalty area, where Jasmin Jabbes coolly slotted home the opening goal. In the tenth minute, Sara Ito had the chance to extend the lead. Following a stunning backheel pass from Rita Schumacher, Ito fired in a shot from a good ten meters out, but the Leverkusen goalkeeper was able to parry the shot. The 2-0 didn't take long to arrive: In the 19th minute, Jabbes scored again. Schumacher passed to Jabbes on the edge of the penalty area, who curled the ball into the top right corner of the goal.
Annika Enderle had a chance to extend the lead in the 35th minute, but her shot hit the side netting. Four minutes later, Jabbes, with great vision, perfectly passed the ball to Enderle. Her low shot, however, missed the target by a whisker, zipping just wide of the left post. Shortly before halftime, Jabbes struck again, scoring her third goal of the game: In the 42nd minute, Enderle cut the ball from the byline to Jabbes, lurking in the penalty area, who slotted it home confidently. But that wasn't enough: Before halftime, BVB increased their lead to 4-0. This time, it was Dana Marquardt who fired the ball into the net after a pass from Schumacher.
The second half began as dominantly as the first. In the 52nd minute, Marquardt confidently increased the lead to 5-0 from a penalty. Shortly thereafter, Schumacher had a double chance but was unable to convert. It was Ronja Leubner who scored the next goal for BVB in the 58th minute: After a high cross, Marquardt headed the ball to Leubner in the penalty area, who took it directly and slotted it safely into the net to make it 6-0 for the BVB women.
In front of 1,448 spectators at the Rote Erde stadium, the Leverkusen women continued to show fighting spirit despite falling behind. A strong save from their goalkeeper subsequently prevented Jabbes, who had once again appeared dangerously in front of goal, from scoring a fourth goal. BVB substitutes also provided further attacking opportunities. In the 78th minute, Nora Willeke missed the chance to make it 7-0 after a precise pass from Noreen Günnewig. She ran alone toward the goalkeeper, but was defeated in a one-on-one. Emilia Pauls suffered a similar fate in the 83rd minute: Her shot was also parried by the Leverkusen goalkeeper. In the end, the BVB women secured a commanding 6-0 victory, celebrating a perfect start to the 2025/26 Regionalliga season in front of their home crowd.
Next weekend, the BVB women will play their first away game of the season. On Sunday (August 31st), the BVB women will host the U21 team of 1. FC Köln. Kick-off is at 12 p.m. at the Efferen sports field in Hürth.
BVB women: Van der Laan – Steenwijk (60th Böger), Reimann, Wöhrn (60th Wahle), Vogel – Ito, Leubner (74th Günnewig), Schumacher (74th Pauls) – Jabbes, Marquardt, Enderle (74th Willeke)
Goals: 1:0 Jabbes (2nd), 2:0 Jabbes (19th), 3:0 Jabbes (42nd), 4:0 Marquardt (45th), 5:0 Marquardt (52nd), 6:0 Leubner (58th)
