Functions and settings
Change language
Choose your preferred language in the Settings > Language in the BankID Security Application.
If you have a Mac, you can change the language for the BankID Security Application by changing the system language in the Mac OS System Preferences.
Change password
To change the password to your BankID on file, click the button Manage ID in the BankID Security Application and then on the button Change password. In the next window, enter your current password and then the new password, twice, and click OK.
Manage PIN
Depending on your bank, you may be able to change your PIN and/or unblock a PIN that has been blocked due to too many incorrect input attempts. For some cards, this is not possible and you will then have to order a new card from your bank.
If you have a card that allows PIN management, click the button Manage IDs in the BankID Security Application and then on the button Manage PIN. Under Select Activity you see what can be done with the current card.
Unblock card
If you enter your PIN several times in a row, usually three times, then your PIN will be blocked and the BankID card can no longer be used. Depending on your bank, you must either order a new card or unblock your PIN using the unblock code (PUK) you received with the card.
If you have a card that allows PIN management, click the button Manage IDs in the BankID Security Application and then on the button Manage PIN. Under Select Activity you see what can be done with the current card.
View history
When you click the button View history you have to log in first. The history of your BankID events is then displayed. The list shows events for all your BankIDs. When you click on an event in the list, details about it are presented. The list is updated continuously, but it can take a few minutes before a recent event is shown. Click the button Show more... to see older events than those listed. You can also search for events using the search field.
Check updates
The BankID Security Application regularly checks that it is up to date and will automatically update when necessary. You only need to confirm that an installation should be done. You can check that the program is updated to the most recent version by choosing the option Check for Updates on the Help menu.
Enable screen reader
Under Settings, Enable screen reader in the BankID Security Application, you can enable a function that allows the BankID application's input dialogs and messages to be read through the operating system's screen reader software. You can fine-tune the screen reader’s settings in the operating system’s Ease of access settings.
Card cache
Under Settings, Card cache in the BankID Security Application, you can delete public data that is cached when you use BankID on card. This can resolve some card-related problems.
Card reader
Under Settings, Card reader in the BankID Security Application, you can see which card readers are connected to the computer and have contact with the BankID Security Application. If you have connected a card reader, but it is not shown here, then the BankID Security Application has not detected the card reader. For further information see the bottom of the page regarding BankID on card.
Log file path
The BankID Security Application continuously logs certain technical data which the support staff may find useful in the event of an error. The information is only saved locally on your computer in the directory shown under Settings, path to log in the BankID Security Application. You can open the catalog by clicking the button Show, for example if support staff asks you to submit the log.
Version
Under Settings, Version in the BankID Security Application, information about your version of BankID Security Application is displayed. This may be needed for support. There are also two buttons, Send as email and Copy to Clipboard, which make it easier if you need to submit the information.
Check connections
This feature checks that your computer can communicate with the servers used by BankID. The function is intended to be used in consultation with the BankID support center at your bank. You will find the function under Settings in the BankID Security Application.
Available languages
The information is available in Swedish and English. You change the language at the top of the page, where you see a picture of the Swedish flag.

1. When you choose to use BankID as authentication on a website, an identification window will automatically open in the BankID Security Application.
2. Check that the service provider indicated in the BankID Security Application identification window is the one you expect.
3. If you have more than one BankID, you can choose which of them you want to use, but as a rule you can use the one which is pre-selected in the list.
4. If you are authenticating your identify using BankID on file or on a card with a reader without a built-in keypad, a field appears for Password or PIN, where you type it in.
5. Then click the button I verify my identity. If you log in with BankID on card and have a card reader with PIN pad, you will be requested to enter your PIN on the PIN pad.

You sign with BankID when you want to, e.g., make a payment or transfer on the online bank, submit your tax return online or report that you are caring for a sick child. Here's how it works:
1. When you choose BankID to sign with on a website, a file signature window automatically opens in the BankID Security Application.
2. Check that the company or authority is the one you expect and that the text presented conforms to what you want to do.
3. If you are signing with BankID on file or on card with a card reader without a built-in keypad, a field appears for Password or PIN, where you type it in.
4. Then click the button Sign. If you sign with BankID on card and have a card reader with PIN pad, you will be requested to enter your PIN on the PIN pad.
