Mandatory Microsoft 365 account for access

IMPORTANT: To utilize the Microsoft Azure Information Protection viewer application, you must possess either an individual Microsoft Azure Rights Management account or an Office 365 account with RMS enabled. Sign up for a complimentary account via the Azure Information Protection platform. Signing in with a Microsoft Account (Live, Hotmail, or Outlook.com) is not permitted.

The Azure Information Protection application allows for secure collaboration with others. You can access protected files—such as Rights protected email messages, PDFs, images, text documents, and any other formats secured as a .pfile—that have been shared with you by others.

This app provides peace of mind, ensuring that your files are safeguarded and can solely be accessed by those users you trust and choose to share with.

Additionally, IT administrators have the capability to deploy and manage the application for devices enrolled through Intune.

The Essential Fort Knox for Enterprise Document Security

Having implemented Azure Information Protection across our legal and finance teams for the past year, I'm profoundly impressed by its ironclad yet elegantly simple approach to securing sensitive data. What initially seemed like just another encryption tool has fundamentally transformed how we handle confidential materials – from acquisition contracts to quarterly financials – with granular, policy-driven protection that travels with every file. The moment I opened my first RMS-protected .pfile attachment without friction, I understood: this isn't just security theater, but genuine peace of mind knowing only intended eyes can access critical documents, whether it’s an annotated PDF or proprietary spreadsheet.

The sheer versatility astounds me: unlike siloed solutions, AIP effortlessly handles diverse formats (emails, images, text docs) through a unified viewer, eliminating the chaos of standalone decryptors. Collaborating with external auditors became frictionless – we share .pfiles with custom expiration dates, while real-time policy enforcement ensures nobody accidentally forwards unprotected drafts. As an IT administrator, deploying via Intune MDM integration proved invaluable, letting us push configuration profiles that enforce watermarks or restrict printing without burdening end-users. Crucially, the app’s intelligent UX strikes a rare balance: complex permissions remain invisible to trusted recipients, who simply authenticate with their Azure RMS or O365 credentials to unlock files seamlessly.

While onboarding requires organizational accounts (a necessary trade-off for enterprise-grade trust), the payoff is unparalleled control. Watching our new hire securely open acquisition NDAs on her tablet mid-flight – zero VPN, zero external tools – underscored how AIP transcends traditional perimeter security. The policy visualization icons provide brilliant at-a-glance assurance – color-coded labels indicating "Confidential" or "Do Not Forward" transform security from abstract to tangible. For regulated industries or any team sharing IP across borders, AIP delivers zero-trust principles in practice: immutable encryption, usage auditing, and revocable access that persists beyond your firewall.

This isn't just a viewer; it's the missing cornerstone for modern data governance. When competitors bury you in complex key management, AIP offers elegant, identity-centric protection that works silently in the background – the digital equivalent of a self-destructing briefcase. Mandatory for enterprises, transformative for security teams, and surprisingly effortless for end-users.

Every application holds great importance. Our team feels fortunate to work with them all.

I rated Microsoft 3 out of 5 for imitating G. They say they could access personal details whenever they want. I might attend a funeral, but that’s uncertain. Every time Microsoft says "may," it feels like a definite yes. What’s truly unsettling is what they leave unsaid. They never bring it up, claiming no lies in theory, but that's just nonsense! Why bother with fines? The state often lacks the skills or desire to invest resources into this.

The app gets stuck on the splash screen when trying to open it. This started happening after an update a month or two ago. Many others report the same problem, so it looks like there’s a real issue with the app that needs attention.

This application is tough to figure out. It constantly intrudes and tracks everything. Unless you enjoy spending hours adjusting settings, I can't suggest it.

Microsoft, there's a clear bug with the app right now. Use it in context and you'll notice it immediately.

The app seems to be stuck on the title screen when trying to use it on a Google PixelBook. It doesn't progress beyond that point at all.

You received a password-protected PDF in an Outlook email but can’t open it. First, check for the password in the email or any accompanying messages. Sometimes the sender includes it separately. If you have the password, ensure you enter it correctly. If problems persist, try opening the PDF with different software. Adobe Reader is a good choice, but other options like Foxit Reader or online services might work too. If those fail, consider reaching out to the sender. They might provide a solution or resend the document without protection.

It sounds so frustrating. You really need to get to that urgent letter, and instead, you're stuck going through page after page. That’s not helpful at all. Let’s focus on getting you that letter. Have you tried checking your email or the app where it might be? Sometimes a different way of accessing it works better.

This app is causing chaos. It keeps crashing my phone non-stop. I can't even use my device properly. It's frustrating when it reinstalled itself without permission. Seriously, the developers need to take this down from the Play Store before it drives more people crazy.
