FAQ:

1. Where is my cab?

The best way to find the location of your cab for your current trip is in the confirmation text message that was sent to your phone after you made a booking. The text message contains a tracking link which will display the location of the cab, as long as the trip is live.

If you’re having trouble locating a cab, please call our main line at 132227.

It is important to note that 13cabs is a Network Service Provider. We provide bookings to Operators and Owners of taxis affiliated with 13cabs through our bookings and telephone work. To fulfill a booking, we aim to find the closest available cab to the location before the due time.

Please note that we cannot pre-allocate cabs, as the nature of their business often means the drivers do not know where they will be at certain times of the day. We cannot guarantee the exact time of arrival, however, our Contact Centre Staff do their very best to find a cab as close to the requested time as possible.

2. How is the Fixed Price calculated?

When passengers set their pick up and drop off destination in the 13cabs app, our pricing tools plots the fastest route calculated by Google Maps from point A to B.

The price is then calculated using a number of factors, including predicted trip time and distance, traffic conditions, state government fees, levies, and tolls.

We don’t surge and we don’t change our pricing based on demand.

3. How does the Fixed Price work?

Just the way it sounds. The price you see when you book with the 13cabs app is the price you’ll pay when you go from A to B The only exceptions are if you change your destination mid-trip, or ask your Driver to take a different route to the one calculated by the app.

4. What are the cleaning fees?

Cleaning fees are additional charges that a driver can request from a passenger. A driver can request a cleaning fee for instances where a passenger has made the vehicle unclean and inappropriate for another passenger to use.

The current maximum pricing for each state is as follows:

    $120 in VIC/NSW

    $154.80 in QLD

    $88 in SA

    $50 in NT

    $53 per hour in WA

A driver is not permitted to request more than the above figures. The passenger pays this additional fee to the driver directly.

    I don't really fancy the pin pointer on the map that you need to adjust. It can be quite tricky and needs a very steady hand. Sometimes, I have to fiddle with the address number because once I got a ride from my neighbor's place, and the app assumed it was my home address. Apart from that small issue, I have no trouble using it and actually like using the app.

    Cabs not showing up has been a hassle. When you set your location on the map for pick-up, it sometimes picks the closest spot of land, even if it's in a different street. It gives you the address it's sending the cab to, but no map to show where that is. Unless you know the area well, you won't realize until the cab goes by or never comes. This led to missing a flight in December 2021, so I won't use this service again unless they fix their dispatch system.

    The app for booking cabs is really bad. It's never accurate – it says it's still looking for a cab even when one is already here. It gives the wrong cab number and claims the cab is just a minute away, although it keeps searching for one. It's pretty much deceiving passengers, which is dangerous. Every time I use the app, this happens, not just once. Also, I've filed two complaints via the app’s feedback section but haven't gotten any response.

    You know, today I had a booking using this app, which usually works fine but can be a bit clumsy. So, the booking estimated the ride to be around 3 minutes away and even the map data looked like it confirmed that. But when I was on the ride, it ended up taking a lot longer than expected. Then, when we got to the destination, my payment through the app got declined and I couldn't try again. In the past few trips, I've noticed that some drivers seem unsure about how to process payments through the app. One of them even told me that it wasn't an option. Also, I don't really like how I have to rate my previous trip before being able to book another ride.

    I tried to sign up for the service, and initially, I wasn't happy because the verification code couldn't be pasted. When I moved on to set up my profile, there was an error related to the verification code, but weirdly, I couldn't find a place to enter it again or redo it. Later on, when I came back to use the service, I struggled with selecting addresses - whether through the map or typing them in. On top of that, the app seemed to obstruct important options on the screen at times. It was frustrating. In the end, I gave up and used Uber instead.

    Hey, guess what? So I tried signing up with my UK mobile number, right? Well, it was a bit of a mess. The app lets you pick UK from the list of countries, which is cool. But then things got wonky. When I added a leading zero to my mobile number, it went all goofy and tried sending a confirmation text to +4407xxxxxxxxx, which is totally wrong, right? And when I didn't add the leading zero, it still messed up and tried sending the text to +44xxxxxxxxx, which is also incorrect. Plus, there's no way to reach out to the company about this issue in the app. So, I said forget about it and uninstalled the app. Now I'm just using Uber instead. Much simpler that way.
