The Metal Detector app, also referred to as metal finder or magnetic field detector, serves as a free tool that transforms your device into a functional metal detector by leveraging the built-in magnetic sensor. This application enables users to detect surrounding magnetic fields, electronic signals, or metals such as steel and iron. When there is a nearby metal source, the readings on the device will increase. It can function as a body scanner, electromagnetic field meter, wire locator, pipe identifier, or even a ghost detection scanner.

Many ghost hunters resort to using the Metal Detector app (EMF meter) for supernatural detection, as they assert that ghosts affect magnetic fields. I remain uncertain about this claim but welcome any insights on its validity.

Setting: 

-Move your device around the area where you suspect there might be metal objects. The app will react to changes in the magnetic field. As you move your device, watch the gauge and graph. A significant spike in the graph or a high reading on the gauge may indicate the presence of metal.

- The application presents the magnetic field measurements in different units: µT (micro tesla), mG (milli Gauss), or G (Gauss). The conversion rates are as follows: 1 µT equals 10 mG; 1000 mG equals 1 G. Typically, natural magnetic fields range from approximately 30µT to 60µT, or 0.3G to 0.6G, indicating that if metal is present nearby, the reading must exceed 60µT or 0.6G for accurate detection.

-You can adjust the sensitivity of the detector within the app settings to better suit your environment and the type of metal you're looking for.

- Keep your device away from electronic devices that emit strong magnetic fields, such as radios, laptops, and microwaves, as they can interfere with the app's accuracy.

Cautions:

• Not all devices are equipped with a magnetic sensor. Please verify this feature in your phone's specifications. If your device lacks this component, no metal detecting applications will operate successfully on it.

• The precision of this app relies heavily on the quality and functionality of the device's magnetic sensor (magnetometer).

• Electronic devices like laptops, televisions, microphones, or radio signals may interfere with the accuracy of the magnetic sensor and the overall metal detection experience. It is advisable to avoid using the app in such environments.

• This free metal detector app cannot identify non-ferrous metals such as gold, silver, and aluminum, as these materials do not produce a magnetic field.
